I could user a little (okay, a lot) of encouragement

Well, I was struck with the sad realization today that the Evansville Half Marathon is in just over a week.  This is good in that I’ll get to see my sister that weekend, but it’s bad because I know that as of right now, I’m not in the condition I was hoping to be in.

Thanks to a recent marriage and some health issues of my wife’s no, I’m not blaming her), I’ve slacked off on my training.  Which means I haven’t gotten out at all recently (like the past 3 weeks to a month!) to do any kind of distance or endurance walking/jogging.  I really can’t remember the last time I was able to get on a treadmill and go for at least 30 minutes, let alone longer than that.

Too many things keep getting in my way.  Okay, let me correctly phrase that.  I keep letting too many other things get in my way.  I know I will never be able to keep up with my sister’s pace of walking/running intervals for the half.  I’ll just have to do what I can, as best as I can.

Last year was nice since Leah Davis walked with me.  She’s not doing it this year, so I’ll be all on my own, I’m sure.  Thank goodness for mp3 players.  Now to find a good audiobook to play while I’m out.
